Safaricom No Expiry Call and SMS Rates

Safaricom’s new no expiry plan allows its subscribers to use call, SMS and data bundles that have no expiry dates.

This airtime is however different from the airtime you normally top up and will not count when buying other Safaricom products. Instead, this airtime includes a 50% bonus and can only be used for making on-net and off-net calls or SMS at the normal rates.

The current Safaricom calling rates (as of July 2021) are Ksh4.87 per minute during peak hours (8AM-10PM) and Ksh2.50 per minute during off-peak hours (10PM-8AM) for on-net calls. On the other hand, SMS to all local networks are charged at Ksh1.20.

No Expiry Airtime Exchange Rate

The no expiry airtime can be purchased by dialling *544# and selecting Call & SMS (No Expiry Date). The current “exchange rate” is set to 150%, i.e. the equivalent amount plus a 50% bonus.

To find out the airtime you’ll get for any amount just multiply it by 1.5. Some few common amounts are as follows:

No Expiry Airtime Terms and Conditions

Some additional conditions you need to take not of that apply to this airtime are as follows:

  1. the airtime cannot be used when roaming or making international calls.
  2. you cannot sambaza (transfer) the airtime
  3. the airtime will not contribute to your Storo bonus target
